76-16-7

OU now extends their lead in the Bedlam series by 60 games. This is the most lop-sided record in any series in the nation of College Football. Well, that was some hell of a game. I seriously thought he made the field goal, but since Nose Picken's stadium has crappy places to stick cameras it was hard for me to see. It was one of the more exciting games I have seen in a long time. Well, OSU exposed OU's secondary, but it was too little too late. I still don't think Woods couldn't carry OSU to a win with his passing. He is good and accurate at throwing the long ball and burning OU's secondary, but I don't think he could complete short passes. Anyways, we found out who was the better running back in the state was and in the nation. Adrian "All Day" Peterson lit up the Cowboy defense for 249 yards. He has been selected as the national player of the week for the 2nd time this year. This week he broke the record for most consecutive 100 yard games by a freshman with eight and also the freshman rushing record,1278 yards, at OU (1186 by DeMond Parker). If he keeps on track, he should be given the Heisman straight up. OU's other half of the defense held up well, holding Morency to 93 yards. No team has had a 100 yard rusher against them this year. Never would have thought this would be a high scoring game.

Other signs of the Apocalypse
Well, there was other crazy things going on in college football besides the Bedlam game. I watched Michigan erase a 17 point deficit with 6 minutes to go in the game to win in 3 overtimes, 45-37. Also, I North Carolina put down one of the undefeated teams, Miami with a last second field goal, 31-28. The Terps of Maryland took it to Florida St with a 20-17 win. Well, in fact the 3 big teams from Florida all lost for the first time since 1978 this weekend. And the final crazy thing of the day, which hurts OU and OSU (but sucks more for OSU because they lost to this team), Texas A&M was upset by Baylor. That's right the Baylor Bears put up a win in the Big 12 conference other than Iowa St. or Kansas. Talk about signs of the apocalypse. Jesus came and went and came back again this week.

Well, I should actually be doing homework because I have a Life of Christ test Friday, a report due next week that I have failed to start til this week, and I'm sure there are other crap I must do, but oh well. This week, especially Tuesday is going to be big for me. My sister is coming in from Alaska for a week. I can't wait; I haven't seen her since earlier this year. Relient K's new CD, mmhmm, Tuesday. Go check out their commercials, they are high-larious. I think I am missing something. OH right, we are voting in Bush for the next 4 years. Don't be stupid, GO VOTE!

I'm a Sooner born, I'm a Sooner bred
And when I'll die, I'll be a Sooner dead.
Here it is folks, Zach's Bedlam edition on my blog.

For OSU to win:
OSU must stick with the run game and keep the game even. If OSU makes mistakes, ie: Morency fumbling the ball, and let OU get easy points the game will be over in a hurry. They will need to catch OU off guard and throw deep every once in a while. Because the loss of Antonio Perkins in the secondary and OU's broken coverages, OU's secondary will be a prime target to catch OU off guard. Field position will play a major key in the outcome of the game.

For OU to win:
OU will need to make OSU one dimensional, by forcing the Cowboys to pass. OU needs to shut down Morency and the run game. OU needs to score quick. If OU can get up by two or more touchdowns, it will force OSU to pass. And OSU is not good at passing, well up to this point. OSU hasn't played a good defense. Woods can pass and has a high percentage completion rate, but he hasn't passed more than 15 times a game. If OU can jump up on OSU and capitalize on OSU's mistakes that OU needs to force and force Woods to throw 30-40 times, the game is OU's to lose.

My pick:
Special Teams:
OU has a good special teams, but lately DiCarlo has missed some chip shots, but he continues to do well on kick-offs. Both OU and OSU have lost their key return men in Perkins and Williams. Farden, for OSU, takes up all the kicking positions and does a good job of it. Field position will be huge. Edge: Up for grabs

Defense:
OSU has a pretty good defense, but they were exposed and beaten badly by the Aggies of Texas A&M. OU has lost some players, but are 5th in the nation in rushing defense. OU's secondary has seen better days, but OU has more talent and in the end OU's defense is better. Edge: OU

Offense:
OSU has had good success at running and sometimes passing, when needed. But to this point, OSU has not played a good defense. So this will be a test for them. Morency is 3rd in the nation, but Peterson is in 6th position with a more balanced offense. Peterson has added a key component to the OU offense which it has not seen in a while. The balanced attack of two Heisman candidates (one a Heisman winner) is too much for the OSU defense to stop. There is no team in college football right now that could stop both the running and passing attack of OU. Edge: OU

Coach:
This is no contest. Miles, and his marshmallow hat, has done a good job of building OSU back up, but Stoops is one of the best coaches, if not the best coach in the country. Edge: Stoops

Game:
OSU will be tested in different ways this Saturday, and we will see if they are truly the team many think they are. If not, they are just like any other OSU team that has taken the field against OU. OU will need to prove they deserve that #2 ranking and try to convince voters that they are one of the top teams in the nation. And if OU is up by a couple of touchdowns, don't look for OU to stop and run the clock out. OU will score as much as possible to make the score look good for the BCS voters.
OU 31
OSU 17

Opinion:
I hope you OSU fans don't think you are something special because College GameDay is coming to Stoolwater. They are not here for you. They are here because of OU. It would ever be the only reason they would come to town, if OU has to play in Nose Pickens Stadium. So make sure that you Cowboys are using the little round bowls as urinals, because those are satellite dishes. People already think Oklahoma is full of hicks, and they are going to see a lot more when they see GameDay in Stoolwater. Get ready for a butt-kicking.

We interrupt this public affairs program to bring you a football game.
Well, I sucked it up on my picks this week. I thought I had forgotten to pick like you other plebs, but I didn't. Fall break sort of put a kink in most of my plans this past weekend. I did not make it to the game because we had a college retreat this weekend, but I saw some highlights. For the most part we looked good, and with running up the score on Kansas helped us to move in our rightful spot (as of now) to 2nd place in the BCS. The BCS is still jacked up, but I will rant more on that topic in the latter part of the season.

Well, having a four day weekend for fall break I had expectations of catching up on sleep and getting a head start on some papers that are due soon. As you can well guess that it did not happen. My average bed time was 1:00am and I did no homework whatsoever. I haven't stayed up that late on a consistent basis in over a year. Old age is hitting earlier than I thought, am I ever tired. Anyways, the highlights of the college retreat was staying up til 3:00 am playing Halo (which by the way I smoked everyone) and we played a Survivor/Fear Factor type game on Saturday. I almost got out of eating something. Being very picky puts me at a disadvantage in this game. Anyways, I was the tie breaker. I had to drink orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, and salsa. I am thinking I can do this. I like all three ingredients, but the texture of the salsa threw me for a loop. I did win it for our team with 2 gulps, but to give you an idea of what it was like. Think of when you throw up in your mouth and swallow it back down. YUMMY!!!.

No offence Apu, but when they were handing out religions you must have been out taking a whiz.
We had a really good church service on Sunday. The Holy Spirit really moved in the worship service and we began the service with allowing any who would like to come and pray to do so. Sunday night, the youth led the service and did a really good job too. The youth who spoke was amazing. His name is Michael and has learned a lot in the position he is in. His background includes being the starting QB at Meeker, but then tore a big hole in his leg and broke his back in a 4-wheeler accident. He is back to playing basketball and baseball, but because football has so much hard contact, his back could not take it. So he is struggling being on the sideline and not being able to do much, but God is using him in so many ways and I think that he is finally realizing that. It is always hard to see things thought Christ's eyes; whether you are looking at decisions that God is asking you to make or seeing everyone else as the same, or why things happen. But when we get a glimpse through His eyes, it blows our mind and we realize that God does know what is best for us. God is so awesome!!!

Stay tuned for the Bedlam Edition of my blog later this week.

Hello Lamewads!

Yep, that's right I'm listening to the new Roper CD. From what I have listened to so far is awesome. It is similar to the latter years of FIF, but more of an emphasis on rock. Songs that have jumped out at me so far are; Hello Lamewads, Amplify, 1985 (which mentions Michael J. Fox and Tony Hawk), Day of Pigs, and Shania Twain's You're Still The One. Go buy it. Speaking of new music, I have been listening to RelientK's new music that is due out November 2nd. I agree with Ben's observation of this album that it is probably the best they have put out so far. You can listen to "More Than Useless, I So Hate Consequences, and The One I'm Waiting For" at Purevolume. I was able to listen to "High of 75" last week and it was awesome.

Well, to the good news of the sports world. I like Scott have been interested in post season baseball. It's the only time I am ever interested in baseball. There are too many games in a season. I find myself rooting for the Astros, mainly because they are the underdog and this is the first time they have been to the post season, beating Ben's Braves. And, of course, I am rooting against the Yankees. I can't stand the Yankees, Go Red Sox. Anyways, on to football, Adrian Peterson has taken the lead in the Heisman Race by continuing his dominance in the run game, definitely showing who is the best running back in the state. Speaking of OSU, they got beat. Woohoo. On the down side, the BCS Standings came out for another year. They have Miami 2nd and OU 3rd for some odd reason. But not to worry there is another half of football season left. I really hope there is another controversy this year. The more controversy there is over this stupid a$$ rating system, the more likely College Football will join the rest of the sports world with a playoff system.

Finally, I should be joining the rest of our group by purchasing a video game system. I will be purchasing a X-Box this Sunday. Why this Sunday you ask? Because Blockbuster has a X-Box Bundle available on Sunday that includes a X-Box, NCAA 2005, 2 months on X-Box online, and another game (some crappy tennis game), all for $150. I am saving like $50 by doing this, but trying to be patient is driving me nuts. Oh well. I will post the rest of the field of new reality shows later this week during Fall Break.

Until then, You're With Stupid

Monday, October 4

The stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas.

Well, this weekend for college football set apart some more teams playing for a national title. I am jumping off the Georgia bandwagon, becasue Tennessee put an end to their title hopes. Crazy things are brewing in the Big 12, mostly in the South Division. Texas Tech spanked Nebraska, 70 - 10. That's right, 70 - 10, the worst loss Nebraska has ever endured and by the most points ever. Kansas beat Kansas St. 31 - 28 and Texas A&M beat Iowa St. All this means is that the top 5 teams in the Big 12 are all from the South; OU, Texas, Texas Tech, OSU, and Texas A&M. Crazy huh.

Anyways, OU pulled off their 5th straight win against Texass. Not as high scoring as I thought it would be, 12-0, but OU snapped the nation's longest streak without a shutout, 281 games spanning 24 years. Also, replaced one Heisman candidate with another. I am not really sure Peterson could pull off winning the Heisman this year, but he is currently in the top 10 and if he keeps putting up these numbers, he just may do it. And don't anyone give me crap about not saying Morency has a chance to win the Heisman. Until he plays a team with a defense and gains 200+ (like Peterson did against the #5 team in the nation), I will then give him his due, but until then, suck it. My pick'em picks suffered this week, but to my amazement Josh and I are the only ones still in it. Ben and Brad dropped off this week, not making any picks. Finally, to the embarrassment of Texass and help of tuckfexas.com, check out these pictures, Texas Team, Failure, Submission, Losing, We Suck, Mediocrity,

Kent Brockman: Animotion is up an eighth... after plunging seventy five points this morning!
Homer: Oh, I hope plunging means up, and seventy five means two hundred!
Kent Brockman: The firm declared super-dooper bankruptcy, which is terrible news for the company's one stockholder, Homer Simpson.

Alright, there is a lot of fun and interesting things to do and read on our ring of blogs. I shall continue that fad. I have been watching a lot of reality TV, mostly "Survivor" and "The Benefactor". I am not really sure why I am caught up in this fad, but I am. And I thought I would make up some new ideas for reality television and put them against each other and see who wins. So I am going to make up a bracket
Pimp My Dad
This show is a mixture of "Pimp My Ride" and "Extreme Makeover" and "The Swan". It will take a random father and change them from a dorky, mullet wearing, beer gut toting, denim wearing redneck from the backwoods of Texas and change them into a slick haired, handsome, nip and tucked, wine connoisseur, professional looking man. I will be posting the next contestant within the week.

Sunday, October 3

The eyes of Texass are upon you, all the live, long day.

Well, I'll do a little catching up for you from that past week. Pretty busy week, because I had a test on Tuesday, cake walk, and a test on Friday (studied Wednesday night for two hours and studied on Thursday night from 8:00pm to 3:00am, and as you can tell the test on Friday was slightly harder, and by harder I mean the teacher basically said study everything we have done since we have started school). But, I think I did really well on them. Who knew that studying actually pays off. That is the most time I have ever put into studying for a test, 9 hours. Ususally 3 or 4 does the trick. But no more test for a while. School is going well, probably one of my better semesters so far. I did sleep through my first class this week. I was in veg mode and dozing off a lot so I said what the heck, and layed my head down on the desk and took a nap, very refreshing.

You are Homsar!

You may be off kilter and creepy, but it's a
good look for you. Also, wearing a yellow derby
that shoots in the air when you yell is a good
look for you.
What obscure Homestar Runner character are you?

It was a great weekend for football. I went to the Texas Tech game, in beautiful 60 degree weather, and it was a blast. OU played a pretty good game and as usual need to make some changes and basically execute plays. Even though our defense let Tech rack up like 400+ yards, they did not score a touchdown till 5 minutes left in the game. Say what you will about OU's defense, but lets see someone else hold Tech to 13 points. We also found out who will be in the hunt for a national title and who "sucks again" and will not. USC and Oklahoma are of course already at the top and have known that since the beginning of the season. Now Georgia enters that list. I watched them pound Tennessee and they looked good. And as much as I hate to admit it, White may not win the Heisman this year (that's ok, he would rather win a national title), but Kyle Orton he moving quickly up the charts. He already has 1367 yards, completing 70% of his passes at 10 yards a pop, 17 TD's, and no picks. These are ridiculous numbers.

I have to say I was sweating it on my College Pick'em this week. There were many games that could have gone either way, but Ben and I continue neck and neck as we tied this week. I was thankful that I stayed as close as I did, but it won't get any easier as the weeks progress.

Finally, it is the Red River Shootout (or as I like to call it, the Red River Romping) this week. OU vs. Texass. It will be another good game this year, but it will end up like the past four years with Texass and Mack Brown wondering why they suck and can never beat OU.
Boomer Sooner

And if you're not down with that.
Iv'e got two words for ya;
