A New World Order

Hey everyone, I have a new blog. It will consist of the same stuff here, but will have video blogs and more updates and all kinds of cool crap.

Check it out!

This site will stay here, for now, for those of you who don't read these quite as often so you can get the update.
Peace Out

Thursday, August 3

Eight months of waiting, $350 later, and expectations of an eigth National Championship has just gone to waste, because of some dumbass quarterback who thinks he can be clocked in at work and be at practice at the same time is ok. I hope that $18,000 was worth it, because you just flushed millions of dollars down the drain. I am so pissed off right now. More to come about this topic which won't die anytime soon in my book. Also, hopefully you will see this on a video blog soon so it will be more lively and you can see what I am feeling right now. Also review of the new FM Static cd which was really fricken difficult to get a hold of for some reason. Focker Out.

You took four minutes of my life and I want them back. Oh I'd only waste them anyway.

So here is my super update now. I have been busy with camp stuff. It's over and things are sort of slowing down. Camp was great as I said previously, even though our projector only projected an assorted colors of purple and pink, the humidity was as high as the temperature, and girls gone wild in our cabin. There were 3 girls that came from Tulsa to go with us to camp. Not sure why, but they did and have before. This year as the previous years they wore things that were against the dress code. They have been in trouble for this for the past 3 years and they should know better, but Wednesday they didn't want to accept the punishment for disobeying the rules (the punishment was drawing out of the 1st of 3 tub of tortures and wearing a shirt that was worn all day Monday and reeked of sweat). So they proceeded to call their parents to come pick them up. So one of their moms drove 4 hours one-way to come pick them up. So went sent them on their way and the week was even more enjoyable.

Work is a bunch of morons. We need someone bad. We are short 2 tellers and have known this for at least 3 weeks for the full time position and at least 5 months for the part time position. So what do they do? They hired someone that only works Monday and Tuesday. Are you kidding me?

Well, do you remember my sister who got married in late April, well she is pregnant. We're not really sure whether the baby is a Rebel from Las Vegas or an Eskimo from Alaska, but one things for sure is that it is due on my birthday. That's cool. I mentioned that she could name it Zach II, but she didn't take to that idea too well. Oh well. Life goes on. Speaking of babies, my cousin just had his 2nd baby on Sunday. His name is Denver Lyn.

So I went to a Redhawks game the Saturday before I left for camp. My work had got a skybox, and I had an extra ticket. So I invited Kandi, a real good friend who I've known for a long time and I thought it would be cool to catch up with her. It was sort of a semi-date if that makes sense (because if I considered it a date I would act different. Just ask any guy if that happens, because it does. Considering something a "date" seem to make guys act different.) We talked and ate and watched the Redhawks win. It was a grand 'ol time. Anyways, that's not important (well it is because I had a great time hanging with her), the story of how I picked her up was. I could make a long story short, but the long version is funnier. So I had been shopping in on Northwest Expressway making sure I had everything for camp and I told her I would call her when she got off work to get directions. I called her about 5:40 and she tells me to get back on NW Expressway to I-235 North to Danforth and head west and call her again. So I get on NW Expressway and get on I-44 for some reason; realizing I went the wrong way, I turned around on I-44 and headed back to NW Expressway and while I was on the ramp waiting to go turn onto NW Expressway, there were some guys on the side wanting to wash peoples windows. Finally I got back on NW Expressway and headed west off of I-44. After about 10 minutes of driving west, I call her and ask her how far I-235 was from the mall, and I quote "Are you serious?" For some reason I kept going west and ended up going all the way to the Turnpike before realizing I'm not going the right direction. So I turn around and make my way back towards Penn Square. I did even stop and ask for directions when I got gas, but this guy was going to have me get on the turnpike and go south to I-40 and then get on I-235. And I thought I was lost. Anyways, I find I-235, which happens to be only like 2 miles east, instead of west, of Penn Square. What a surprise! I drive under I-235 going to Penn Square. What in the wide, wide world of sports in going on here? How did I miss that? I made it to Edmond and got lost again in her neighborhood, but that's expected because I've never been there. But what's not expected is that I get lost on a highway that I have traveled numerous times and even more while I was at Hillsdale traveling back and forth from Norman to Edmond. So after about an hour, I finally reach her house and we head off to the game. So yeah, that's my story of my semi-date. There's a reason why guys are better at directions by landmarks, not go 5.42 miles east, then turn north and go 9.49 km and it's the 3rd house on the south side of the road. Don't think that I'm blaming her for her directions, I am the guy who said "yeah, I know where that is", and "I'll be there in a little bit". Actually, I'm placing the blame on the guys who wanted to wash my window before I got back onto NW Expressway. Because I should have went right (east) there instead of left (west). But it was a funny and I had a good story for her when I got to her house.

Yes, I am alive. I apologize to all of those who check my blog for updates in the past couple of months. But I hope to update at least once a week. I promise. But I won't be updating like 5 times a day like been does. haha. Well there has been a lot that has been going on in the past months but I'll just give you the recent update and anythin I can remember. Well, I just got back from camp last week and it was one of the best camps I've been to in a long time. God moved a lot. We had at least 3 salvations and 2 surrender to missions (one of them being my youngest sister). It was awesome to see God move. I am currently looking for my tv remote so i can finish the 4th season of Smallville at this point and it's getting late, so I'll write more later. Peace

Oh, You Didn't Know
Well, my sister got married this past weekend. For the most part, it went well. It was a small wedding consisting of mostly my family. His sister's family and parents were there, but they all had to travel from Texas and Arizona. To begin with, my friend started the music to early, so technically the wedding started late, but we weren't all ready. The only thing is that his mother had to stay standing longer than was planned. No big deal. The other main thing is that it didn't hit me that I was actually giving away my sister until I was standing in front of the pastor (tear). So that completes my roles of men in weddings. So my marriage should be soon (as soon as I find a girl). I did catch the garter, which happened to have OU on it. The other thing that went not so good was that my friend's camera (which was the wide shot for the wedding) shut off when we closed the viewfinder. But other than that, everything went well. They are in Vegas now, enjoying their honeymoon. Which is where I'll be in less than a month. YEAAH!
Operation No One's Home: Well, Friday night after the rehearsal dinner I went over to my friends house. It was me and two other friends and we were bored, so we went to Wal-Mart. I got some stuff for my sister's car after the wedding (no worry guys, just saran wrap and car chalk. No oreos. I will never do that again) and we happened to run into a few girls from the youth who had window chalk, silly string, and saran wrap in their basket. Needless to say, they planned to trash some people's car that night and asked if we would like to help. And, of course, we said yes. We planned to hit our youth minister's car and one of the girls friends because she backed out on hanging out with them to hang out with her boyfriend. So about midnight, we ended up hitting both of their cars. We tried to get others, but they were either not home or it was way too dark to see anything. They would suspect the 3 girls, but not my friends, because my alibi was messing with my sister's wedding and my other buddy has a wife and doesn't do much. So, technically we are in the clear and tell them no one rats anyone out. Yeah, that lasted less than a day. Our buddy we were hanging out with the other night betrayed us to the youth minister. So, tagging cars has begun. I forgot how fun this was. It makes me feel like I'm back in high school (Is that a good or bad thing). But it's all done for fun and nothing else. The one girl who started it (who we ran into at Wal-Mart) copped out on Sunday saying she's not in this and her parents are backing her and her car hadn't even been hit yet. Then the girl who was hit last night was hit and work and was mad that she had to go and clean it off in the dark at the car wash. She thought it was me and I told her that if my car stays clean, hers will. So, all the ones who are in it are not taking this as a joke. This is no fun if everyone starts getting mad that their car is getting hit. It's only saran wrap, window chalk, Crisco and feathers, and soap. So, it's nothing personal for any of this. People are no fun sometimes.

Well, as some of you heard is that 3 of OU's 5 recruits have asked out of their letter of intent. I can see some reasons for copping out, but those are rarities in these type of situations. These kids are just spoiled and they don't want to go to OU now because Kelvin's not there. You didn't sign with Kelvin Sampson, you signed with the University of Oklahoma. Fine, be stupid kids like Ryan Humphrey, Drew Alexander, and Lawrence McKenzie and go to a smaller school. They all played for crappier teams and aren't going anywhere, but they could have stayed and been parts of a team that could go very deep in the tournament. They signed a contract binding them to play for the University of Oklahoma and in turn they pay for their schooling. So, if OU let's all these kids out of their contracts without any repercussions, not only will OU suck worse than they did this year, they will be saying that contracts aren't binding. So, I signed loan papers for school loans and a car loan and now I want out of them. Oh yeah, my sister joined the military and wants to get out now. I don't think so, Tim. Come on. This isn't the NBA where bargaining agreements happen. Some say that OU is still an option. What the hell? Then stay at OU. Most major colleges have their scholarships filled up already. Do they really think that they are going to sign with another major college? If they didn't take up our scholarships, I think OU should make them keep their agreement and they can either play or ride the pine pony for a year and then you can transfer. And if you ain't down with that; I got two words for ya, SUCK IT!!!!!!!
FOCKER OUT!!!!

Hawk Nelson: Smile, It's The End Of The World
Blink 182, Xylophones, and Kazoos Oh My!!!

1. The One Thing I Have Left - Great intro song and probably one of the best songs on the album. Has some great qualities from their debut album with the punk rock beats, but also shows the potential of the band and this album.
2. The Show - It's not a bad follow song, but it's also not great. The beginning sounds good, as does the music, but the song in general is questioned approaching the end when some repetition and special guest vocalists that seem to, in my opinion, ruin the song. Even though they are short, the vocals conflict with the music and the band style in general.
3. Bring 'Em Out - Another song that shows the bands potential, because of the lyrics and pop punk beats and the fact that this was featured on the movie "Yours, Mine, Ours". This song is in a tight race with "The One Thing I Have Left" for the top single on this album.
4. Everything You Ever Wanted - Ballads are a common thing on many albums these days. Relient K is one of the best, if not the best at doing ballads. Between the soft tones, rock beats, falsetto, this is probably one of their best one so far. This song fills the number three spot on the top songs of the album behind the other two aforementioned.
5. Something On My Mind - They must have toured with The Rocket Summer in between albums, because this reminds me of Bryce's style. Definitely a different style for Hawk Nelson with the prominent piano and random xylophones here and there, but I'm not really convinced they can pull this off. It just does not fit their style. Many bands take a new tangent to try different styles. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and this tangent definitely does not work. It seems that they are trying to be different in a way that Relient K is, but Thiessan and company know how to and Hawk Nelson does not.
6. Is Forever Enough - It's a good song. Reminds me of the old Hawk Nelson with some new twists.
7. Zero- A semi-ballad rock song that proves to do very well on this album. The musicality gels very smooth, until the end of the song where there is a spoken part and once again interrupts the song. The song would support itself without it.
8. Nothing Left To Show - This is a good song that stays consistent with what I think Hawk Nelson is. I realize bands want to expand their music and don't want to stay the same, but it 's good to have some consistency in their albums.
9. Head On Collision - It's an ok song.
10. Hello - This is an upbeat pop-punk song. There are a lot of "shout outs" (for lack of a better word) in this song, as well as other songs on this album. Not really sure the use of the kazoos fit, but whatever.
11. It's Over - A questionable beginning in the fact that it is very similar to the Blink 182 intro "Man Overboard" so I'm not sure if that is what they had in mind, but the creativity of the artist is what makes them or breaks them. And if it seems that they are stealing other ideas from other bands, it reflects on the band and does not make a good name for them.
12. Fourteen - Well, I don't know what to say about this song; besides the fact he is howling like a wolf for most of it. This ballad pretty much finishes this album off physically and literally.

They are definitely trying to expand themselves as artists and that's fine, but they have failed. Most bands transition slowly by trying out different styles and work it out over a few albums, but they tried too hard to compact it all onto one cd. A good
word for the album is eclectic, but that word is for a bag of Skittles and not for an album. The album is still not that bad as a whole. As you can see it got a 7.12 out of 10. The top three songs help the album a lot, but overall this is not what I expected from them and I'm truly disappointed in their efforts.

Well, there you go. If you want to check out more reviews, go here.

It's Beer Thirty, It's Honky Tonk Time
Yes it is my friend. Hey what's up everyone. Hope everyone is doing alright. I have been keeping up on everyone's with everyone's blog/xanga or whatever you have, but as usual I have been slacking and not commenting. So, my bad. I am back with a force now. So, I guess I'll let you all know that I have been sucked into myspace. I first got an account to check out what the kids liked about it. It's been pretty cool, it lets me communicate with the kids in the youth. I like it. Here is the address if you want to check it out. Zach's Myspace

Well, I was watching 24 on Monday night and I totally forgot about the National Championship game was on, so I flipped over there to see UCLA getting pounded by 13. So that was the extent of my viewing of that game. The only thing good about it is that I came back and won the ESPN brackets, thanks to Florida winning. Not sure why I picked them in that one bracket, because I can't stand Mr. cheesy mustache, pony tailed dork. No, I'm not talking about LSU's head coach or even that dimwad Morrison from Gonzaga. No, I am talking about that Noah guy. I mean, what a dork. Oh, well. My bold prediction did come true about OU. They did lose the first rounds of both the Big 12 and NCAA tourneys. Sucks, but the lack of consistency. Now Sampson leaving caught me off guard. I think OU is going to miss him, but I think it's time for a change.

Well, the kids had prom this past weekend and we hosted a Post Prom Party (P3). [Note: If you ever have to plan a prom, please think about the weekend it is on. As you all know, this past weekend we lost an hour of sleep. So that put me into bed about 4:20am. ] Anyways, we gave away an Ipod to entice kids to come here instead of getting drunk and making babies (that was our unofficial slogan). We had about 30-35 kids, which is probably our biggest turnout. It's really difficuly to attract kids to these type of events. We had a 18 hole putt-putt course, tons of food, prizes, and the Ipod. So we are working on getting some feedback. To find out, there were only supposedly around 80 kids at prom and if that's true, our party was the place to be. Also, it stormed that night so the parties out in the fields were cancelled.

Well, my sister has less than 3 weeks of freedom left before she is married. She gets married on April 22. If you all could be in prayer for that, it would be greatly appreciated. I know that it's difficult enough to plan a wedding in general, but it has been more difficult when both the bride and groom are in Alaska and they are getting married in Oklahoma. Also the grooms parents are in Texas. So trying to put everything together might be crazy. I am also doing the videography of this wedding. But the coolest thing is that I get to walk her down the aisle and give her away.

I went to the Relient K concert at the Cains Ballroom in T-Town a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it was probably one of the best shows Relient K has ever put on. They played some covers which I have never heard them do. After playing "In Love with the 80's", they broke into songs from "Top Gun" - Danger Zone, the Instrumental, and another song I can't think of right now. Anyways, the also mixed their own songs, such as when they played "Which to Bury: Us or the Hatchet" instead of going into "Let it all Out", they headed into "When I Go Down". Amazing transtions and mixes all night long. The favorite had to be at the end of "Sadie Hawkins Dance" Theissan went straight into the chorus of "Spiderwebs" by No Doubt. Great show. The Rocket Summer was good. The local openers, "Hall of Heroes" were good, but Maxeen who is touring with them just plain sucked. Well, it's getting late so I'm gonna make like a tree and get outta here. (Another great movie). Oh, and I picked up the new Hawk Nelson cd and I should be posting a review within the next day or two.
Peace Out.
